Michelle Crossan-Matos served most recently as the chief marketing officer at Ulta Beauty, the nation's leading beauty retailer. In her role, she oversaw eCommerce, loyalty, UB Media, the company’s retail media network, Credit card, brand building, creative, store design, customer services, public relations, consumer insights, and analytics.
Michelle is a visionary force in brand building, creating high-performance business models, guiding large-scale transformations, nurturing diverse talent, and defining brand purpose. As Ulta Beauty’s chief storyteller, she was fearlessly shaping the beauty authority’s narrative by showcasing its innovations in pioneering new omnichannel retail experiences and unlocking unparalleled loyalty, personalization, and discovery for guests. She’s made JOY the central pillar of Ulta Beauty’s brand equity platform, driving initiatives like The Joy Project, The Joy Council, and The Joy of… podcast, redefining how the brand connects with its community, and celebrating the joy of beauty and wellness.
Prior to Ulta Beauty, Michelle served as the Chief Marketing, Citizenship & Communications officer at Samsung Electronics America, where she was responsible for leading the company’s U.S. consumer, B2C marketing, and communications strategies, while also overseeing its social impact programs. Before that, she was SVP of Corporate Strategy, Innovation & Transformation at Samsung, where she led overall corporate strategy, innovation, transformation, and new business incubation. She also served as CMO for Vertu, a British manufacturer and retailer of luxury mobile phones, and held global brand leadership roles at P&G, where she honed her expertise in beauty and personal care.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Michelle holds a degree in management sciences and manufacturing from The University of Strathclyde. She pursued studies in macroeconomics at MIT and digital & social strategy at Harvard Business School as part of an executive program. She currently resides in Puerto Rico with her husband and their two children.
